Working with a global beauty care business to hire a finance leader (CFO) for the company's Saudi commercial operations based in Riyadh.  At the time the KSA operations were relatively small at $30m in annual sales but with a plan to substantially ramp up operations in the country.  The challenge in this assignment was to hire a sufficiently senior candidate to join a smaller affiliate in advance of the growth.

The challenge of this recruitment assignment related to the need to hire a candidate from a larger, corporate environment but ensure they had the flexibility and innovative thinking to join a smaller, entrepreneurial group.

Working with a FTSE listed Power company to identify candidates for a cluster CFO role in this high growth region.  The company was seeking a Big Four trained finance professional who had subsequently joined a Western company ideally in engineering, project-driven or construction services.  We were seeking a recently appointed CFO with Russian nationality who had the cultural adaptability and communication style to engage with the global leadership team, and with the potential to move to another region with a 2-3 year time frame.

Mandate to hire the local agency CFO for a big 3 marketing communication group branding network.  The challenge in this assignment was to hire a more senior CFO than the position required at that time in order to facilitate the planned growth in operations.

Search mandate to recruit a country CFO for a top five pharmaceutical company.  At the time Poland generated revenues of $300m and incorporated commercial, manufacturing and shared services; therefore the company was seeking a heavyweight candidate for the role.  Due to the proportion of OTC sales meant the primary target was a candidate coming from FMCG instead of Pharma.

Mandate to recruit a finance director for the Polish operations as well as the expansion into Eastern Europe on a country by country basis.  Initially the emphasis involved working through distributors with the intention of establishing a network of retail outlets, hence the comapany's interest in hiring a senior candidate who had previously worked outside of Poland in the past.

Hired an FP&A processs leader for a +$10bn New York listed company with centre of excellence based in Krakow, Poland.  The position was reporting to the EMEA Head FP&A providing captive shared service support for planning and analysis processes across Europe.

Mandate to hire a finance leader for the manufacturing and supply chain operations of the Austrian affiliate, incorporating two manufacturing facilities and a distribution network.  Country sales at the time were €300m.  The SC Finance leader was tasked with creating an unified finance team to support both plants as well as logistics and procurement.  In addition a key challenge was to improve how the finance team engaged with and supported the Head of Operations and all Operations department managers.

Mandate to hire a country Controller for the coommercial and supply chain operations of the Austrian affiliate, incorporating a direct sales force, two manufacturing facilities and a distribution network.  Country sales at the time were €300m. The Controller was a position focused on technical accounting, tax, working capital and internal controls and was tasked with maintaining motivation team motivation while half the department's position were relocated to a lower cost location.

Partnering with a US listed apparel company to identify a CFO for France and Southern following the promotion of the incumbent to the European Controller role.  The main challenge in this mandate was to identify a high performance candidate at a low salary, since the compensation on offer was 20% below market rate.  We were fortunate to identify an out of work candidate prepared to accept a lower basic salary.

Mandate to hire a Plant Controller for this global pharmaceutical contract manufacturer.  The plant was integrated through an acquisition, and problems arose from lack of transparency on cost of good manufactured and accuracte KPI data for operations decision-making.    This opaquity was holding back further investments and expansion of the plant.  The Plant Controller is responsible for co-piloting the Plant General Manager to ensure optimal use of resources, to support all strategic decision-making and ensure the plant is cost optimised in order to drive higher profitability on long-term contracts.
